Lu's Sandwiches

4/5 excellent place for traditional Vietnamese sandwiches and noodle/ rice (Buon Cha) bowls! No frills! Today's service was excellent despite the large order they were preparing also. The front entrance was smashed and broken (looks like damage to property by someone making a bad decision) so it's boarded. 1. Cold cut (small) 4/5:Very savory and well seasoned pate and mayo! Veggie & herb stuffing was generous. The whole sandwich was delightful. Would have loved a drizzle of soy sauce or house meat sauce which is a typical ingredient. I just added a drizzle of the soy fish sauce and it was great (doesn't need it but I prefer it) 2. Mock Duck Noodle Bowl 4/5: Noodles on the lighter proportion, spring lettuce mix (instead of typical romaine/ iceberg/perilla/mint), pickled daikon & carrots, cucumbers, choice of veggies or pork eggroll, and choice of tomatoes (which is a plus). The mock duck is very tender and seasoned well-I recommend this! *Vietnamese fish sauce dressing: Umami but light, very nice. Not too sweet. *Peanut sauce: Light and nutty; not thick nor too sweet. *Soy fish sauce: Lightly sharp and lightly salty. Actually perfectly made for dipping, dressings, and marinades! **Got all the to try and they were all very good. I mixed the entire Vietnamese fish sauce dressing with a spoon on the soy and peanut sauce and it gave the noodle bowl a great flavor. Fifty cents extra for sauce!

We came across this shop by accident and were pleasantly impressed with the shop, service, and food. The shop was open seating, but very clean and well kept. We tried the grill pork and mock duck Ban Mi with no complaints. One of the things we noticed was how fresh the French bread was. The nice crisp exterior with a pillowy texture inside. We’ve added this to our go to places for when we are downtown.

Lu Sandwich offers an authentic taste of Vietnam with their delicious Banh Mi, especially cold cut. Each bite takes me back to the flavors of my hometown. The ham pâtés and mouthwatering mayo create a truly enjoyable combination. The restaurant provides ample space for a comfortable dining experience. Don’t forget to try their Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk, a strong and awakening beverage. Their service was fast and friendly. Love coming back regularly.

Lu's is one of my absolute favorite places! I always go back and forth between the tofu and mock duck banh mi, but after having them side by side I give the slightest edge to mock duck (I was so excited to eat them I forgot to take photos). The spring rolls were similarly excellent. I got the peanut sauce and think that was the right option for me in the moment. The fried sesame balls were a little tough this last time I went, but still enjoyable and highly recommended by yours truly.
